Hushglass is a local Windows utility with no accounts. This page states exactly what stays on your computer, what leaves it, and who receives it.

Who publishes this

The Hushglass website and Hushglass for Windows are published by Lakshay Bansal, an individual operating from Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, India. Write to hello@hushglass.com about anything on this page.

What leaves your computer

Two things do, and one thing never does. This is the whole of it.

The daily version check

Once per day the app fetches a small static text file over HTTPS to see whether a newer version exists. It sends no information about you or your computer — it is an ordinary web request, the same shape as opening a page in a browser. As with any web request, the server that answers it records the usual connection data: your IP address, the time, and the identifying string the request carries.

If the newer version exists you get one notification, once, and clicking it opens the download page in your browser. If the request fails for any reason — you are offline, the file is missing, the network is blocked — the app says nothing and carries on. It never downloads or installs anything by itself.

The license check, if you buy Pro

Free never touches the license system at all. If you buy Pro and paste your key into the app, the app calls Dodo Payments to activate it, and afterwards re-checks it quietly in the background if more than about two weeks have passed since the last check. Both calls go over TLS 1.2 or better.

What those calls contain:

Dodo Payments handles that data under its own privacy terms, as an independent controller of it — see Dodo Payments' privacy policy. If a check cannot reach the network, nothing changes: the app stays Pro and tries again later. Only an explicit answer that a key is no longer valid ever changes your tier.

What the app keeps on your computer

Three things, all local, all yours to delete:

There are no other files, no background services, no drivers and no database. Uninstalling the app and deleting that folder removes everything it ever wrote.

What the app never does

To be explicit, because a privacy tool that is vague about this has failed at its own job. Hushglass does not read, store or transmit the contents of any window. It does not take screenshots. It does not record keystrokes, clipboard contents, browsing history or which applications you run. It carries no telemetry, no crash reporting, no advertising identifier and no third-party analytics or tracking code of any kind. It reads window titles on your machine only to draw the list you pick from, and those titles never leave it.

When you send feedback from inside the app

The feedback box does not send anything. It hands a pre-written message to your own email application, and nothing has left your computer until you press send there yourself. Attached to the message is a short diagnostics block: the app version, your Windows edition and build number, and whether you are on Free or Pro. Nothing else — no window names, no contents, no logs, no screenshots. The message is visible in your email client before you send it, so you can read or edit it first. If you close the box, no draft is kept.

Buying Pro

Dodo Payments is the merchant of record for every Hushglass purchase. Checkout happens on their systems, so your card details never reach this website, this app, or us. What we receive from Dodo is the order record and the email address you bought with, which is where your license key is sent. We keep purchase records for as long as Indian tax and accounting law requires, which we treat as eight years, and email correspondence for as long as it is useful to support you.

The website

hushglass.com is a set of static pages served by Cloudflare. Cloudflare processes the ordinary connection data every web server sees — IP address, request time, browser identification — in order to serve and protect the site, under Cloudflare's data processing addendum.

Children

Hushglass is a tool for people who present and record their work. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. There is nothing to collect: the product has no accounts.

Your rights over your data

For the application there is nothing to request, because there is nothing held about you: no account exists, and the two files described above are on your own disk, readable and deletable by you at any moment. For purchase records and email correspondence, write to hello@hushglass.com and we will tell you what exists, correct it, or delete it where we are not required to keep it. Data held by Dodo Payments as merchant of record is requested from them directly.

Changes to this policy

If the app's behaviour changes, this page changes first or at the same time — never afterwards. The date below is the date of the version you are reading.
